Is FlixTrain included in 9 euro ticket? ›

The 9-Euro-Ticket applies in M-V in regional trains, suburban trains and underground trains, trams, buses and partly ferries (see above). The 9-Euro-Ticket Does not apply in M-V on long-distance services (ICE, IC, EC, FlixTrain and FlixBus). Transfer to 1st class is excluded.

Though in actuality seat selection is integral to the ticket booking process, so it's impossible to avoid the additional charges for using this facility. So the headline ticket prices for FlixTrains aren't the actual costs, as paying to select a seat is also mandatory.

Anyone can buy and use the ticket, including tourists and foreign citizens. How long is my 9-euro ticket valid for? The 9-euro ticket is valid for the calendar month in which it is purchased.

The 9-euro ticket was valid in the second class, throughout Germany for all local public transport and on regional trains. It did not include travel on Intercity Express (ICE), Intercity (IC) and Eurocity (EC) trains, and could not be used on FlixTrains or intercity buses.

The allocation of seats that can be reserved is fully booked or you booked your ticket close to the departure time and the seat reservations have already closed. Not to worry, a portion of seats are always left unreserved, you can sit in any vacant unreserved seat.

Please stow your luggage in the overhead compartment or under your seat. You are solely responsible for looking after your own luggage.

What is the best transport in Germany? ›

S-Bahn is an abbreviation of Schnellbahn or Stadtschnellbahn (city rapid rail), and, as the name suggests, is the fastest form of public transportation. FlixTrain is a German open-access operator of long-distance railway services. It is a subsidiary of the mobility company Flix SE which also owns long-distance coach operator FlixBus and is supplementing the bus network with rail connections.

The Flixtrain is a train service that is marketed by Flixbus, in competition with Deutsche Bahn. Maybe you've been wondering how to use them. It isn't straightforward, as the Flixtrains operate totally outside the normal rail ticketing systems. This post is to clear all this up.

In order to find out information about the platform your train is departing from, you'll need to look at the arrival and departure board (large screens) that are located directly at the train station.

Other than those few limits, your nine-euro ticket entitled you to go anywhere in Germany, using public transport, as often as you wanted, for a calendar month.

If overcrowding becomes intense, first class can be “declassified”, i.e. opened up to all passengers, regardless of their tickets. But there is no automatic right to occupy first class. Ad hoc declassification typically happens after other trains have been cancelled or seriously delayed.

Most train companies offer First Class accommodation on some or all of their routes. But they may also have some routes that are Standard Class only. Check with your train company.

You can take one hand luggage item and one hold luggage item at no cost. Only luggage that neither impedes nor endangers the safety and order of operations or of other passengers is allowed. If you can independently load, remove, and reload your luggage, and your luggage is not bulky, then everything is fine.

Buy German train tickets online direct from DB at www.bahn.de. I recommend buying direct from Deutsche Bahn with all the cheap fares shown, no booking fees and print-at-home or show-on-phone tickets.

Typically, train companies release their Advance tickets 12 weeks before the departure date, although some go on sale as far as 24 weeks in advance!

The so-called Berlin-Ticket S was previously limited until the end of April. It is valid in the AB fare zone and costs €9 per month. The services not covered by the €9 tickets are: High-speed trains like ICE and ECE services. All IC and EC trains. Faster services run by foreign operators like TGV, Railjet and Thalys trains.

Interrail vs Eurail – what is the difference? There is no need to be confused, as both are mainly the same thing! If you are from Europe (citizen or you have residency there), you should apply for an Interrail pass. Your pass will also be cheaper because, as a citizen, you pay taxes in Europe.

The new 'Deutschlandticket', a flat-fee public transport card for regional trains and other forms of public transport, will be valid from May 1 onwards. Federal and local authorities have ironed out the final details of the ticket, which is the successor of the much-lauded 9-euro ticket.
